Demon keeps disconnecting, so I looked on my 3Com (my router) home page and looked through the settings, there were 3 connections listed:

Marc - Me, obviously!
*******dean***
Edison - My Dad I assume

The dean one I didn't recognise, seen as though there isn't a dean in the house! so I've deleted.

Login password was admin (the deafult, foolishly!) So I've changed it.

has your router got a WEP or some other form of security when connecting to the wireless network?

Still disconnecting!!!

Was doing it when we were with BT (for the phone) but we've gone elsewhere now and it still does it.

Has a firewall enabled.

you need to setup a WEP or similar. Log in to the router and then go to the security page and set it up.

You'll no doubt have to put in a 'passphase' (13 character password) which the router will convert into a long WEP key. You have to enter this when connecting to the network for the first time, and will prevent anyone without it easily connecting to your router.

Also find out which one of your neighbours is called Dean and send him a bill.

Also.....make sure all phones plugged into sockets in your house have a filter attached to them, as this can cause lines to crash.

All phones have a filter.

Options for security are:

Disabled
WPA-PSK (No server)
128 bit WEP
64 bit WEP
WPA (with Radius Server)

No Deans that I'm aware of!

use either of the WEPs, as will keep 99% of people out.

Enter the passphrase, generate the key and write it down. Then just enter it into your computer when connecting to the wireless connection and job done.

Does it need entering every time or just the once?

Don't have time now as I'm off out.

Just once, should be an option to remember the password or it'll do it automatically.

Don't use WEP, use WPA-PSK.
