Hello, I wonder if anybody can help me on this.
My mk4 Van has developed a whining/whirring noise from the rear left of the vehicle. It kind of came on fairly suddenly which i thought wasnt typical of a wheel bearing.
Ive also just been out and jacked it up both rear sides to check for play and there isn;t any.
The noise comes at 50mph+ and gets louder the faster i go.
But after having a look around the rear hub area today there really isnt anything else that would make a whining noise from that area, its all so simple. Maybe the discs and pads could be a little warped???
Anyone have and idea's?
Many thanks,
Simon.

Thanks. Can anyone confirm my thoughts?
I know on the Astra's you have to replace the whole hub if the bearing goes
