Hi guys,

just noticed recently that my car was making a funny zippy/tinny noise when I accelerate or under rev... (moving along just using the clutch)

Me and my dad have found out that one of the exhaust connector's (it's between the manifold pipe and the cat?) has rusted and is in need of replacing at some point.

Does anyone know if they are attached to the actual pipe or they are seperate clips...?

Thanks ppl

Its held on with 2 bolts, 13mm heads IIRC? The part with the threads in is on the end of the actual manifold, the opposing flange is part of the cat.

If you take it off, put a new fire ring on.

is that easy to do? I believe it's the flange thats connected to the Cat

Do you think a garage would be able to put the fire ring on for me or would they try to blag me for a whole new bloody cat? If so does anyone know the price of a standard cat for Corsa B 1.6 16v??? thanks ppl sorry for all the q's

The fire ring is like a tapered big washer that sits between the flanges.

From Vauxhall they were over £200 exchange, I shit you not. In the end I bought a new one off eBay for about £70 delivered, the only problem was that where normally the ID of the centre section to rear beam is the same as the OD of the cat section (or vice versa) on a genuine Vauxhall item, this eBay one had the same ID so they wouldn't slot into each other, I ended up cutting up part of the old cat to use the pipe as a sleeve due to the ID being identical to the OD of the two pipes I was joining.

hoffman standard corsa b cats
hoffman corsa sport cats
Hoffman corsa de-cat pipes

if you need a new front pipe they are very cheap mate so dont worry to much about that, they most probably saying you need a new one because of corrosion on the threads or if youv'e hit a speed bump to quick you might have split it eather way cheap fix, after that i really would sugest the hoffman cats as they are T304 stainles and a direct fit!
