1st one looks better and has 11 good reviews.

Other one will do exactly the same job but costs a few quid less.

freecom would be my personal choice as i prefer the look and have used freecom stuff in the past and its been great

but i would imagine the lacie drive would do exactly the same job with no problems

I've just gone for the WD 320gb one, purely because I wanted a name I recognised.

If I'd have gone for the 500gb one for the same price, I'd be worried that i'd be losing half a TB of data sometime in the future

Probably never going to happen though, but i'm just paranoid.

we get the westenr digi my books for abt 90-93 an sell em for btwn 100-120 dependin on who the customer is lol! we deal with buisinesses not public so if they gerin it wid a server we give em it for liek 100 but if jus buyin that like 110-120

an the lacies for abt 60 a fink but we prefer selin the western digis more reliable an better warranty

Would go for the Lacie drives, only because i've used them in video and music editing/production situations and they're solid as a rock - never had a problem with them. Very quiet, very quick (firewire drives) and don't mind being on hours on end (usually have them on 24/7). They also get good reviews from the music industry, Sound on Sound rate them pretty highly too.

Though, like said, both are the same and i doubt you'll have many problems with one - just make sure you eject the drive properly before disconnecting etc

i have a mybook, you may be able to get a 500GB base model for about that much, but if you want firewire, external SATA you pay more. i don't know what they retail at though i'm afraid

we've used these for afew years now and only had one fail, but it was the drive itself. the case was fine, because its the one i currently have
