Yo Yo Yo,
I got my self a Specialized Hardrock yesturday and im after some good sites to look at, how to's, guides etc...
Gonna try and get into MTB'ing as i live out in the sticks and theres hundreds of disused quarrys everywhere here, and im now riding to work.
Any forums aswell?

The Hardrock was an extremely good choice - we had hardly any back for warantees when I worked at one of the biggest Specialized dealers in the UK.
Take it easy in the quarries - I can't also stress enough how much you need to wear a helmet.
And the Hardrock is bit of an XC, all round bike. If you start jumping off things and going silly, you will need a better bike, otherwise you will start to get problems.
If you have any particular questions, just u2u me. I've been biking near on 10 years, so have learnt a fair bit

wich year of hardrock do you have the 2007? i had the 2004 model i think,great bike imo never had any problems at all and the frame was very solid,great for jumps,and very light wish i hadnt sold it now

Got the 2007 model, was reduced from £369 to £299, i know its only an entry level bike but as im just getting into it , it will do for now
I dont really plan on doing any jumpiong just yet, just happy to bomb around up and down trails etc...

I got a hardrock recently, hyd disc version. Ace bike, but when you take to the roads you defiently notice how wide the tyres are

They are dual compound though. So soft on the outside for cornering, harder on the top for road and less rolling resistance etc

Nah i dont have one i will invest in one though I used to Skate semi-pro as to say so im fully aware of the dangers, seen some nasty falls

That's good then.
Yeah, make sure you get a helmet - Specialized do some nice ones at good value. The Giro Xen's are pretty tasty, as are the new Fox ones.
My dad fell off once and broke his helmet - I dread to think what would have happened to his head if he hadn't been wearing it.

That will have something to do with that. But yes, they are dual compound. At least they were 04, 05 and 06 so should still be now.

Mountain biking is ace.
I really got into it big over the last 4 years and I started on a Hardrock. Great bikes to start off on and big potential for upgrade.

wat colour u got?
i got a gunmetal grey effort, hayes hydros, and all the bars, stems gear mechs are black. quite a smart set up compared to the bikes of a few years back

The Hardrock's are extremely good value for money. As is anything on the Specialized range. People are getting extremely dubious though, because they have a lot of 'in house' stuff such as bars, stems, seats, hubs etc. But these parts are actually of really good quality.
I've got a Demo 7 from France. It cost £2k roughly, and the new '08 ones which are coming to the UK also cost £2k. The frame alone is worth £1300 iirc, the forks about £600 (I think), so you get the rest of the bike for £100.

i've had a hardrock, rockhopper and then a stumpjumper years go then i moved onto santa cruz and orange. but i sold these when i had a big crash which fucked my back.
so the hardrock is a crackin bike to use to get back into it again...once i'm fit again i'll get back into the freeride stuff
