I've just put my engine back together with new conrod bearings and piston rings and fitted a mantzel type inlet while I was at it. But it's stuttering almost as if it's misfiring when i accelerate harder and It's over fuelling like mad. The fault codes showing are o2 obviously due to over fuelling, ecu has no speed signal, and coolant temp is reading -30 or -40 which I thought would be causing the overfuelling. changed the sensor. No difference. I don't know if the ecu was reset when the codes where read and sensor fitted I will check tomorrow. Any ideas? cheers

Fault code 24 strikes

Seen the temp thing before too. Seen c16xe ECUs that think water temp is 60C when its actually 90C, even with new fully working sensors.

just drove it 30 miles. Then left it while i went climbing for a couple of hours. at both ends of the journey it was idling up and down between 500 and 800 revs. when i got there and when i got back. Gonna go and disconnect the battery and get the codes read off again tomorow

temp sensor was the wiring where it goes over the cam cover had melted through. tried another ecu for the vss no difference so i'm thinking this might be a wiring issue also.
does the speed sensor go straight to the ecu or to the clocks then the ecu,. cheers
