ive got a 1.0 12v corsa b but the engin knocks, a bit like a desil has any body got any ideas at all pleaseeeeeee

sounds like piston slap, or tappets

somtimes when i start it first thinkg in the morning it builds up to tick over, oh and when its running the whole car shakes not agresivly

Yep x10xe and x12xe's are chain driven.

Car doesn't hesitate - not AFM.
Diesel sound, especially when warm? Undoubtedly the timing chain! Cure? Replace or new tensioners.
Car shuddering? That is a 3 cylinder engine for you. I swear they have put 16v ECU's in them, so it's like it is trying to fire on the 4th cylinder but yeah, the car shaking on idle is pretty normal 
I had a new 3 cylinder Yaris courtesy car. That was lumpy on idle, but because they are built so well now, it shakes less.
