TBH I think they only sell it on the long haul trains because its a little pointless on the busier short haul ones.

I use the Stansted Express quite often and they have a drinks/snack cart that goes through the train selling alcohol.
I suppose if it isnt bought from the trains snack bar you shouldnt really be allowed to consume your own alcholic beverages

police are quite leanent to be honest, aslong as your not loud or acting stupid!
reguarly drink a bottle of cheap wine on thet rain when going into london for a nite out!!

me and my mates used to go camping when we were younger and took loads of beer on the trains, never had a problem. ot told to keep the noise down once or twice though
