is it expensive to get stuff powder coated ? why is it better than getting stuff just painted ?

Dont think so, place my work uses charges about £50 for four wheels in any colour.
Powder coating if done on a good surface will last & is very hard wearing, the only problem is if it gets scratched you cant touch it in (ie wheels & kerbing) unless you do the whole wheel again & its a sod to get off without bead / shot blasting the surface.

yes i would of though, aint most aftermarket spring's usually powercoated
