Well, Dblias Flowtech Manifold gives 17bhp gain at £850, then put a Dblias Flowmaster Dynamic Air Induction Kit on it, another 4bhp. That's 75bhp from a 12v without exhaust, TB's or anything

i had a look into this because my c16xe engine has a gold block which i think means it was recalled back into vauxhall due to having under sized pistons fitted. i did find out that the c16xe did produce alot of power when first designed (vauxhalls first attempt at 16v) but they couldnt have the c16xe being better than its rivals, the mk3 astra gsi.

I thought the C20XE was their first 16V? I dont know why people are so surprised about this sort of output, because 148bhp is the figure it made on a test bench (wasnt using stock injectors and inlet) and how long do you imagine the engines would have lasted with that sort of setup? At a guess I would say no long enough for any of you guys to consider talking about it! Brosters C16XE was running 190bhp not so long ago!

The C20XE wasn't their first 16v either, the slant 4 in the Chevette HS/HSR was

The C16XE was the first SMALL 16v engine.

Broster's was/is an X16XE (sort of), not a C16XE.

yeah but thats an engine built to much finer tolerances, and it also has v-tec, and revs to 8500rpm iirc.

That wouldn't surprise me, but then Cosworth designed the C20XE head, so you could argue that wasn't really Vauxhall's first 16v engine either
