corsa's don't have a fan belt so, is it my alternator belt that's slipping and making a god awful screeching sound?

how do I remedy it? Im at uni but do have access to an adjustable spanner! can I tighten it with that?

yeah general alt belt.... right one for car obviously....... yeah bar wud be good, no jack required.

this often happens, they stretch slightly over time, and so slip in cold damp conditions......

problem is they eventually snap.... so battery doesnt power and car eventually dies!

I had this on the 1.4 8v sri, belt changed and it still made the noise.
Alternator its self was at fault.
