ok i managed to get my car started now but its bit tapity i exspect tht for abit til i leave it 2 run in for abit but if u try rev it slightly it backfires thru the air filter? well sounds like it mayb the timing is out slightly? any guess's? cheers

have you checked the timing?
what engine is it?

1.4 16v 14xe i think it is? the ecotec one

if it pops when you rev it then the timing is out mate.probably on the crankshaft as that governs the fuel and spark through the bottom pulley and crank sensor

check the timing again and make sure the top 2 pulleys have 2 marks on them and are pointing to each other in the middle and the crank is lined up on its mark on the timing cover at the bottom.Also check the keyway on the collar of the crank for wear and the slot on the crank pulley itself.if these have play in them then that could also be causing your problem.
