how would i go about fitting my amp without pre outs - adaptor plug or something? my old h/u had them but i forgot to check when i bought my new one and it has none fitted

your amp needs to have high level inputs if not its a new h/u or amp, you can get a good h/u with a preout for £80-100
|

the one i just bought was a bit more expencive than that looks like its new amp time then i think

You dont need a new amp or head unit, you can get adapters that take the high level output from your existing head unit and transfer it to an RCA cable signal for your amp

a chap in halfords told me that if u need a preout then you can buy the adaptor an link it with the rear speaker wires in the ISO wire things! not very clear but i think i explained it ok!

You can buy these adapters for like £3 from maplins and most probably halfords. Just converts the speaker outputs from ur head unit to phono level. The quality wont be 100% like preouts, but i had impressive results from when i did it few years ago. Mine was branded "shark" lol

You use what's called a line driver to do it properly.

thanx for your help peeps having searched the net i ended up buying a "line out converter" like a few of you mentioned on here... im not after a high end set up to be honest, its just that i am used to having my 6x9's amped and it sounds bare / weak without them.
