I was once a member on the TDI tuning club and they said the cat hardly makes any difference to emissions on diesel engines.

Diesel particle filter on the other hand, you want that.

its only realy new cars that have dpf's mines dint have 1

I was of the opinion diesel cars didnt get an emissions test, just a smoke test?

just to clarify the limits i posted earelier are for a petrol.

diesels have a smoke test

I have a full s/s system on my 306 td with no cat sounded the nuts on boost aswell

You will be fine at MOT without a cat i only had problems with my fuel as my fuel and boost was pritty much maxxed out

Does the MK 4 Astra 2.0 DTI have one of these DPF things?

What does it stand for? Diesel Particulate Filter?

yeah, stops all the little bits of soot flying out, they get clogged up normally unless you give it some bootage to clear it out, needless to say mines nice and clean

Dont know if your astra has one
