ive got AVG but dont want it to scan/update everytime it turns on. is it possible to prevent this?

Yes it's in the settings somewhere. Maybe the schedule. I don't have it here in work.

start up avg test center
go to scheduler
highlight test plan in basic mode
click edit schedule
untick periodically start anti-virus test
click on and your done
if you want do to a scan now you have to start it manualy obviously

it's safer to have it the way it is
it doesnt take long to scan anyway

It does if you have 2 x 500 GB drives full of files There is no need for this to scan on every start up. I can't wait the 2 hours it takes to do this and suffer the PC slow down it causes
