I have an 94 Sri 1.4i - can a T5 Turbo be put on it and if so would it be a good thing to do or will it be likely to blow up etc?

There would be no point. I presume you mean a T5 turbo out of the popular Volvo V70? You would have to spend thousands strengthening the engine, and then it would most likely be un-reliable.
