Had a bit of a falling out with the girlfreind and all of a sudden some new girl comes online making out she is from middlesbourgh but used so many americaisms like auto accident so I know its an american

Is there a way of tracking the ip as a lad at her work who is stirring things making it difficult for us to get back together is also in the mix.

Want to see if its him or her.

Any ideas how I can get the IP address.

I tricked them into proving to me they are american.

So I know its only her or him, as I only use aim with her.

I just need to know where the ip address is based as I know he lives in MD and she lives in VA.

Type "http://youripaddress" into the convo....he/she will click on the hyper link and take them your firewall/router (if it has that feature...mine does)

You can them look at your firewall logs and track all attempted inbound connections on port 80.

Bang, you have the IP

Yeah you need to get them to go to a web server that you admin then just look in the access log for whatever filename you include in the link, pick something unique so it's easier to find.

you can use a free DNS website, that will hide you IP address for a text address.

ie instead of http://212.182.12.4:80/coolpicture.jpg

it could be
http://funnypics.bounceme.net/coolpicture.jpg

it's less obvious than using your webserver IP address, and chances are they won't have a clue.

Try this website
http://www.no-ip.com/

you could just do the erm picture sending thing in aim cant remember the name of it then do run>>cmd>>netstat -n possibly and if you dont have any other connection to the internet ip should be there....

i may be horribly wrong long time since i did it

if aim works like msn, then doing a file transfer will establish a direct connection (ip to ip), so like said doing a netstat should list their ip address (unless they are using a proxy).
