I plugged my phone in (n70) the other day. It said 'There's an update available for your phone, do you want to download and update now?'
So I thought yeh sure i'll do that.
It downloaded the update and then installed it, the phone rebooted and I was left with nothing... All my settings, contacts, messages, etc wiped off the phone   
Note I've been using same sim for last like 10 years and I had accumulated hundreds of contacts over the years from school, college, uni, work, car clubs etc.
Now they're all gone it hadn't really set in, until I went to call a mate of mine and couldn't.
If any of you have my number in your phone (jr, willay, fad, etc) can you send me a text with your 'name' as the message - so i can re add the number, cheers.

and before anyone says I should've backed it up! I did ... but i think it was on the hard drive that died a little while ago.

Its shit its happend to me when i lost my old phone. dont relise how much your missing until its gone. Some numbers are very hard to get back too

It shouldn't have touched your sim contacts but does and can wipe the phone contacts when loading new firmware. It does say on most instructions to remove the sim and memory card and ensure the phone is backed up before a firmware update. I never do 'over the air updates'.

yeh sim contacts are there, but it's only like 100 (or whatever you can fit on the sim) and from like 10 years ago 
it's all the memory ones that i need.

happened to me before, lost so many little slags phone numbers, it was probably good for me!
