Anyone really know anything about these; someone was asking me about them as he's thinkin of getting one. He's looking at a 51plate Tourer with 48k on the clock.

Any views or knowledge on theses?

Why is the rover engine no good? alot of cars used these engines in motorsport

iv driven 2 with rover engines and they are awsome cars.

Love the fact they have heavy steering , breaks with no servo and changing gear is like changing into low ratio on a landrover, propper mans car imo

Iv got a clio 172 and they are much much quicker than my clio so they not exactly slow ether

Im considering one for my next car

Robbo's not suggesting their not fast at all, I'm sure its the more the point the engines are prone to head gasket failure and they have a very small coolant header tank and coolant capacity, so when it goes the head almost always warps before you even notice!

Fair enough, and it is true about the small header tank, but we are talking about an old lotus (some are getting on for 10 years old now) so you do have to expect problems. And being the rover engine means its not going to be silly money to sort out.

I drove an S2 round silverstone, at the time I owned an MR2 GTS and the S2 would have handed my MR2 its ass through the bends!

Great car to drive, so much fun

Not very fast straight line, but elises are not about straight line speed.

Heh?

One of the problems with a K in a mid engined car is the lack of engine bay 'cooling'

If I had the choice between an early S2 (with a K) or an S1, I'd take the S1

Of course, there is a better option than both of those Elises out there
