is ur hub an active one? if so, then it will use the external ip address to connect out to internet then u will have a internal static ip address which will be used to connect the pc's through the hub

Windows comes with two variants of IP Config; ipconfig and winipcfg I believe.
If you want to find out the IP address of a router you need to use the diagnostic software that came with it.

gizmo - the ip address will be contained within the hub and the external ip address will be given by the DHCP server from NTL this ip address will by dynamic which means that it can change but will always be a valid one

the external ip address - u dont do anything with it
go to www.practicallynetworked.com for more info as this will explain how to set up a home network instead of typing in everything here

If you aren't using a router you need to set your PC up as a gateway. Then the other PC's will only be able to use the internet when the gateway pc is on.
Its a lot easier to get a DSL Router, that way you plug everything into the router and set it up to run DHCP, then you don't need to worry about IP addresses and any PC can access the internet regardless of the other machines.
This is the one I have and its very good for £50.
