if i was to buy an engine that didnt have an ecu with it would the ecu that is on the engine that is already in my car work with it?!
i would be swapping a 1.4 16v for another 1.4 16v!?

it should do, although there might be a few different codes
have a look at your ECU and there should be a sticker on the casing giving you some numbers and/or a 2letters, if the letters are the same as the ECU on the engine your buying you should be fine

as long as its the same engine (as in both were the x14xe out of a corsa b as opposed to the new one out of the corsa c/d) you should just be able to unplug your engine wiring loom,ecu etc and plug it on to the new engine

then if you keep your ecu,your engine loom and just swap em ona it should be fine,i sold my 1.4 to a ld with another sport who blew his up,rather than arse around with key chips/etc this seemed the easiest way (without having massive knowledge of this subject) to do it,and he was a plank but it worked fine lol

what would be classed as not standard then?! the one that is in mine n coming out is standard and and pretty much sure the one that is going in is standard aswell

well mine had induction kit,4 branch, but internally and engine management wise it was standard,no cams,no remap etc
