Apparently to get decent ish power you have to throw money at it, like the X16XE, so most put in a Z20LET as it works out cheaper.

My plans for when I have 1 year NCB is a black 1.4 SRi Good insurance and it'll be better than my 1.0.
I thought a bit about the 1.2 SXi but at the end of the day, it's still a 1.2, even if you get better mpg and about the same speeds. I'd feel more comfortable giving the 1.4 some welly
Hopefully I'll be able to get a pre-March '01 one, which will miss the new tax bands There's one at a local garage that is perfect and ticks all the boxes, but I don't want it for another 9 months yet so I don't think they'll hold it for me

they arent the same speed at all, its basicly the same differece as a sport and a 1.2 16v b. mine used to leave sxis for dead, even kept up with a 1.6 sport till about 65 then he pulled

Ohhh ohhh, there was a 1.4 SRi at the SE rolling road at Torque of the Devil. Had Dblias or Mantzel bits. Was the nuts. Willay stole him from CC|UK iirc.

there was a special edition sxi+ 1.8 with full or half leather and exclisiv alloys

No, don't think it was a dealer special. They just phased the 1.8 SRi out, and introduced the 1.8 SXi+. They do seem very rare, especially on the 2nd hand market however I would presume most are still under 3 years old = finance issues.
http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Summary.aspx?model=1143 : indicates possibly not a dealer special.

Cheers mate, that's cool knowing about the sport as well 9 months just takes so long to come around, plus I need to save the money
That pic of the red one looks quite nice, but both our other cars are red so it would look too weird.

I just wish I had £3500 Even if it sat on the drive until next year haha.

Looking very good, mate
I really like those grilles, is it very hard to fit one to a pre-facelift? On the pre one that I looked at, the grille is part of the bumper
