I've done this conversion and didn't have any problems at all, although i did rebuild the x16xe engine and gearbox prior to fitting it.

you just need the ecu and the wiring loom aswell.....then its a straight swap....i used the 1.2 engine mounts, drive shafts and radiator and its perfect.......love the power compared to 1.2

oh forgot 1 problem i had.........insurance went up '3 fold'......

1.2 was 263 quid..........1.6 16 valve (modified car insurance) is 745 quid

no not had any problems from shafts or mounts (and my 1.6 is far from standard.....288 cams, wossner pistons and rods and arp bolts it just needs throttle bodies and a re-map and i'm told it'll be good for 180bhp)

....as for speedo cable, my 1.2 had electric clocks so just didn't have to change anything along those lines.

its the first engine conversion I've ever done and if your planning a diy job...my advice to you is to get a haynes manual and take your time.

shoddy wiring is usually a problem. make sure its soldered and heatshrunk rather than wires twisted together and covered with masking tape.

the 1.6 power steering pump is fitted to the left engine mount.......just remove it from the engine and use the 1.2 engine mount instead

hope this helps
