Basically I took out a new, 18 month contract this time last year and took out the insurance with it too. After a couple of months I had a lot of problems with my phone (n95) and ended up having to change the handset 4 times. Anyhow I went into carphone warehouse to cancel my current contract and take out another one elsewhere. To my amazement the carphone warehouse told me I didnt have insurance on my handset. They basically told me there was nothing I could do about the situation and have to contact the insurance company to find out why it was cancelled. The insurance company blamed carphone warehouse and vice versa. After another lengthy phonecall the Insurers agreed to re-instate my policy but only if I paid £110 upfront. (after a £10 off for the cock up )

Am I wrong for thinking its unfair I have to pay a lump sum thanks to one of the companies errors? Any advice with what to do with the situation would be great

you must have letters saying that you are insured on the said phone?

it will have the model and the IMEI number on it.

if you have that, then i guess they can't legally do anything as it state you have insurance for that particular phone at that time.

On my N95 8GB when i took the 18 month policy i was given the business insurance (my mate works there so he gave me it on the sly) how does the insurance work like that? As he done it for another mate who has had 4 handsets, he works as a labourer so it gets all gritty inside, plus he dropped one in concrete etc and they just replace it no questions asked?

Whats to stop him saying he dropped it in concrete, them giving a new one and him selling a handset on?

When the Ins company are told, the IMEI goes on a blacklist and won't work on any network

I have all the paperwork from when I took out the contract. Would I be best writing to insurance company or carphone warehouse?

What is the issue with the phone?. Is it water or physical damage?.

I was told the other day that the N95 has a 2 year warranty from somone in the CPW. I took mine to them for repair and I didn't even get the phone from them. It's been sent away to Nokia.
