well decided to have a blast at slow shutter speed on the camera the other night,

after setting the camera to the slower shutter speed the camera would not take the pic, it was as though it wouldnt focus, how do people do this?

iv had this issue with it not taking a picture due to not focusing before do othwer peopl have this issue?

also on the standard nikon 18 - 55mm lense you can set it to af (auto focus) or MF (manual focus) how do you focus things when in manual is it just using the zoom on the part of picture you want

Not familiar with the lens (I use Canon) but you usually have one zoom ring which will twist and one focus ring further down the body to focus.

Again, not 100% sure but you might have set the shutter speed too slow and the camera wouldn't take the shot as it knows it'll be completely over exposed.

If in doubt next time, set it to full auto and meter the scene pressing shutter half way and see what the camera recommends you use, then go into one of the manual modes and set it near to the recommended settings.

flick the switch on the lense to m..

use the middle bit to zoom like usuall
then use the very end bit of the lense to focus
