Think you just get it free if you're on JSA.

Job Seekers Allowance
You can get it discounted, but I don't think you guys qualify. Maybe you should have a child together.

You only get it free if you are all students although I believe you receive a 25% discount if your friend is a student.
How much it will be depends on the council tax band the property is in:

Sounds about right. What a mate at Uni was doing (e.g. discounted council tax as someone he lived with wasn't a student).

We were living in a 3 student and 3 non-student house last year, didn't have to pay any council tax, when the bill came through it was group N i think, which was "at least one student is living here"
Personally i think they screwed up, but i'm not gonna argue about it, my missus was living with her student mate, and should of been able to claim 25% discount i believe

You will just get a 25% discount, it will explain all on your local councils website

one thing that pisses me off...
Our flat in Edinburgh is empty just now... and we pay more cooncil tax on it than we would if one of us lived in it!
That is just plain stupid.
The discount for single occupancy is greater than the discount for it being uninhabited.
