escrow is what the seller was probably referring to, which is legitimate and ebay will varify it (seen it on another forum)
but that age old rule, if something on the net seems to good to be true, it probably is.

its a full on scam without a doubt ive had it before with a certain item
however i would think about paying it just to get the full amount out of ebay once youve been scammed but that will be a long process
nice profit if it comes off LOL
You're only covered up to about £100.
im not talikng about under ebays wank policy. im saying once the scam is revealed then claim the full amount off ebay !!!!!!!!
read there legally binding contract terms

Such a scam.
You'll never see your money again. Ebay are not responsable for taking money / payments - hence they are partnered with paypal to do it for them.
As people have said, he'll have your name, number, address etc - then you'll go to log in through his fake ebay login which will give you your ebay login + password and then finally you'll enter your bank account details and he'll have them too
Plus for £8700 I'd personally fly out there, see it in person, pay him and drive it back.
For a laugh,
reply and say
"Hi Mate, I'm really interested. My ebay username is 'UareaCuntUK' - My phone number is +44999 and my name is Mr Fuccya Muthhor. My address is 10, Downing Street, London.
I look forward to our transaction".

P.S. since it will be automated / semi automated / nigerians who can't read... If you send that - I guarentee they'll reply and try to go ahead with the transaction.
Bearing in mind, anyone with half a brain would read the above and realise they're not true details.

In his terms he has described an ESCROW service. Ebay don't provide such a service so he is tricking you into something that doesn't exist. Sadly, if you fall for this kind of trick Ebay will give you your £100 compensation you're entitled to and tell you to be more careful. OK, so you'll get the police involved next because you think it's a legal agreement, they might find the Nigerian scammer, but it's unlikely. Plus you won't see a penny back even if you do.
The only way you might get more protection is if you pay via Mastercard or Visa as you're insured, but there is probably a cap on how much you'll get too. Plus if they think you knew it was a scam and you thought fuck it because you're insured I'm sure they'll swiftly show you the door.
