Had a bump in my bmw (i reversed into a lampost) anyway needs to be jigged as pushed it back under the rear light, been told it has to be pulled about half inch out been quoted £200
does thi seem a fair price?

Bit extreme, last I heard its about 100 quid. Does it need jigging, why not just use a slide hammer

If it's under the rear light cluster, you'll only need a slide hammer to take it out.

Its only what the bodyshop told me thats why i wanted to be sure, seemed a bit extreme to me £200

what has been pushed under the rear lights?
what bmw is it?
if it does need jigging that is about right, alot of bmw`s need specific clamps for the jig which cost a fortune!

I work in a bodyshop. Thats cheap tbh, like Graeme said, BMW's need special clamps, and it takes a good 20 to 30 mins just to get it on the jig and bolted down, then got to pull it out, keep trying light in to make sure its about level, sand, fill, paint. Even if the 200 is just for the jigging, thats still cheap.

My rents paid 800 notes to have min jigged and fixed with ne bumbers n stuff!
I now know its a fucking rip of

Its a bmw 3 series e46 saloon.
Heres an example pic
What has happend is that the strip under the bootlid (starting exactly in the middle) running to under the light has been pushed back about half inch, where it go's round the corner has all crumpled up due to been pushed back
the bootlid is fine has not moved and still closes fine

Done a few of those like that, might be more damage to the back panel behind the bumper, those have rails in the back of the bumper, and that connects to two sort of tube things that go down the chassis legs about a foot. Could have caused some more damage.

Its not for it to be repaired just for it to be jigged. £200 just for it pulling
I can get the repair done once its straightend out

It doesent look like its done any more than superficial damage was only doing a spin in the road about 10mph none of the bootfloor has moved and has not even damaged the light

Depends to be honest, cause that is actually a part of the back panel, not seperate, and its fucking strong metal!! Does take some pulling, and needs mounting on a jig etc. Get some other quotes if you think its a bit ott, but i bet most will be around the same.

Slide hammer wouldnt do fuck all, that metal will be waaaaaaay too strong.

Yeah i dunt think a hammer will do much it is realy strong thick steel. Think i mite just pay the £200 and get it jigged
