For the people on here who have v6 corsas I wanted to find out which gearboxes they are using, I would imagine most are using the F20 but I was thinking of using a diesel gearbox instead for the longer gears.
Also if anybody has used an F20 with a diesel 5th gear how well does that work- like is there a big drop in revs between 4th and 5th?

Most people I've seen with v6's use a F25 box. That's in astra mk3s though. might be space issues in a corsa

The F25 is what was on the engine when I took it out of the vectra but it is hydraulic operated clutch and I would prefer to use a cable operated instead because it is less work!

Yea the F20 definately does fit but I dont think the 5th gear is long enough for me which is why I was looking into using a diesel gearbox instead. I think most people might use the F20 because they are so readily available

Get the F20 from a Cavalier CDX then!  Far longer legged.
Also, I think you will have to knock up a mount spacer if using the F20 and V6 combination? You do have to with the Astra Mk3 as the engine is physically narrower (bank of 3 rather than 4). I forget the figures but it isn't much, something like 24mm IIRC?

we used a f20 on the conversion we did but I'm sure me ate will be looking for a F28 soon

I thought all F20s had the same ratios, good tip LETGSI16V! I already have the gearbox spacer kit to use the smaller gearbox.
Beardy- what sort of job is it to fit the F28?

I just used the f20 box in my conversion to. We didn't have to use a spacer on the mount

The CDX box we put in my mates Nova would do 110 MPH in 3rd cog, really long ratios.
