Hi all,
New to the board, so HI!
I was thinking about trying to make my own Heat shield for my air intake.
What would be the best material to do this? Some kind of heat resistant plastic?
Cheers.

aye used a couple of aluminium mouse mats, a few of those metal thingies with a screw to tighten up (too late, brain not engaged no more :lol , some aluminium ducting, a fair bit of blood n sweat
but the constant fear of one of the mats slipping out whilst driving, and the crack that appeared on the airfilter coz I over tightened and the look of a bodge job made me decide to get an after market one

When my bonnet is closed my heatshield stops alot of the hot air from the engine...It makes a seal wi my bonnet lining. This also has a bottom on it...

mav, not bad, but most of the heat will come from the exhaust manifold.

mav: i wouldn't have sealed off the wheel arch from the filter... lots of cold air there.
Also i don't think i can do that with my 1.2 16v because the fan belt is there without a guard and would catch on it!
Is the 1.2 16v supposed to have a guard like your engine?
