As above car in question is the sister's boyfriend.
Basically, the car's wanting to stall on idle then revving to about 2000rpm to stop itself from stalling. He's looking for a diagnostics machine, but does anyone have any ideas in the meantime?

Normally AFM, do you have a mate wuth the same car ? swap the AFM over and see if it cure's the problem before buying one. If not LMF do a genuine unit quite cheap

remove intake pipe off the throttle body. jam open the butterfly and clean thoroughly then refit should be fine after that
