I use it as a lazy gear on the mway, as it'll pick up from 40mph so saves changing gear

What were you talking about then? I hope it wasn't an extra 30 mph in all cars, as that simply isn't true.

Same as on my Fiesta, took a bit of getting used too but it seems normal now.

I'd like to see you get it into reverse from 6th anyway

Same as mine too, I assume that its got a system in place to stop it been put into reverse when you are going forwards as unless you are completly stationary it doesnt like to go in.

My 6th gear is the same as most other peoples fifth, close ratio boxes ftl

I was told once that a friend of a friend's gf was taking his mint fiesta xr2i (?) that he'd just spent hundreds on restoring into town to pick him up after a night out.

On the way in on the motorway she managed to put it from 5th into reverse, subsequently dropping the gearbox out the bottom of the car and writing it off

Have found 2nd instead of 4th at about 90mph in the XE.

Shouldnt it be hard to enguage 1st whyen your moving though? I tried it as a test (without enguaging the clutch once in 1st) amd found it was ny-on impossible to get 1st in my fiesta when doing over 20mph.

Same!

My gf works at a BMW dealer, so we regularly borrow a 1- or 3-series diesel when doing long trips. It usually takes me several weeks to get used to only 5 gears afterwards.
