On what engine?
It's not a big job really but depending on what car it is, the Exhaust Manifold may need to come off.
You want to make sure you clean the mating surfaces up properly before putting the gasket on and you may need a dab of sealant on too.

I did mine on my LET. Took a while but providing you have the right tools it shouldn't take more than a few hours. Make sure you replace the gasket with a decent quality part, GM part if possible and as johnhara1 said, a seam of gasket sealant too will ensure a good bond.

Don't over tighten the bolts either. Helicoiling under there isn't easy as I found out!

Yeh that too, and cross tighten so corner to corner and opposites. Work around them that way nipping up bit at a time.
