to me, i dont think buying a alpine will be much better, it might have different options but thats about it imo.

my jvc is 45w to each speaker just the same as my mates alpine or his is 50 i cant remember.

but i havnt got a standard speaker in the car. iv got jvc 13cm in the front, sony 13cm in the rear, two subs (600w & 800w) and two amps(1000w & 600w)

im planning on getting 6X9's next, will a decent headunit really give me that much extra?

I bought an Alpine the day i passed my test 3 years ago, best £180 i've ever spent, i always keep it anytime i change a car, i've had cars that have came with sony/kenwood/pioneer, always end up turfing them in favour of the alpine, nothing comes close worth every penny.

alpine are for chavs!
if your looking for decent sound with decent features at a budget price then pioneer is what you want forget alpine
ive had possibly over 70 different headunits and when setting up a sound system alpine always have the least features
look at my for sale thread i have a cheap sony and a top spec pioneer with bluetooth

PMSL @ Alpine is for Chavs!

Most random comment of the day.

I would say go to a Audio shop and try some out, even halfords, but once you pick one, go on the net & get it cheaper.

I bought alpine because its a reputable brand and i'm very happy with my sound system

I also run a 12" Type R & an Alpine Mono amp, very good bass.

i have a very limited experience with audio stuff, but i found my 10 year old blaupunkt with decent speakers alot better quality than an expensive new alpine headunit i had in the corsa with standard speakers ( i know i may be pointing the obvious out )
