i use a soldering iron for plastic welding, the soldering iron cost 4 quid, make sure you do not breath the plastic fumes in

how good does it work? is it strong enough to hold a number plate recess into a bumper?

welded a air scoop to the bottom of my rover bumper had no problems, make sure you do a decent weld when you do it ie decent penetration, plastic welding is like gas welding when you use the gas torch with the filler rod

A soldering iron will work but i dont think it ends up all that strong. The plastic becomes brittle

never had the plastic go brittle, plastic welded the tps sensor and made a slotted adjustment still no problem

yes because if you do not it will not hold together and this also happens when you do not get the plastic hot enough then a weak weld
