Hi

Just bought a set of big ends and they are AE brand and their part number is listed as good for the x16xe but looking to them they have a hole in the bearing and my old one does not have is it something strange they are the same size if I fit where should I fit the bearing with hole on the upper part or lower section of the rod ????

you had to remove gearbox to do that due to flywheel !

anyways the bearing with hole on the upper section of the rod but why there is no holes in the rod for oil to circulate to somewhere else !

Correct you could change the clutch without touching the gearbox ,access was through a coverplate, then you could just get to the flywheel bolts with a shallow socket, then remove oil pump etc from the other end then drop the crank also remove pistons etc , in fact apart from a rebore you could rebuild the engine I was lucky just had to hone mine and fit new rings if only it was that easy today.
