i would give them anywhere between a cuple of months to a year. Depending on the condition of the shocks. You may find that they will fail after a week!

If u are lowering 60mm it is ALWAYS recommended to buy shocks and springs.
But as cybermonkey said your standard shocks could give up the ghost quickly or could be
lucky to get 6 months out of them.
U will get a better set up and ride with shocks and springs..Thats a fact but you don't
need to do it all at once. There is no hard fast rule on how long your shocks would last.

if u get just springs then they all depend on how long they last with ur driving.
also depends on how big ur wallet is

On a Corsa if you lower past say 45/50mm your drive shafts bend the wrong way. The drive shafts as standard are like this / \ (only obviously not as steep as that), when you lower say 35mm, they go straight _ _ then when you go 60mm they bend the oposite way \ / which causes the drive shafts to actualy pop out. Uprated sports dampers are shortened so you don't get this effect. I know a lad who used to have an AX GT, he lowered his torsion bar about 80/90mm on standard shocks and his drive shafts poped out 3 times in 1 week.
They sell 60mm springs so that you can put them on along with uprated dampers.
