My brother in law has a 99 corsa 1.2 and it randomly put the ecu light on, round corners etc or changing gear

Can i fault code read this myself or do i need a code reader?

also any common faults with these like crank sensor? as he said sometimes it wouldnt start?

Check this tutorial, you can flash the codes yourself - the pics aren't on it anymore but it is quite descriptive...

its got a 16 pin plug, and youshould bridge pins 5 and 6, but it doesnt have a pin 6 (no connector) so does that mean i cant test it?
