hi all,not been on in a while so hope you all had a good xmas n a happy new year hope 2009 is good to you all

moving on.....i have a corsa b project rio de verde in colour and im looking for some bonnet raisers...can they be bought of the shelf...or is it a custom job?any info would be grateful!!

if it is a custom job could somebody point me in the direction of dimensions and ill get some knocked up!cheers

you carnt use spacers like they use on the escorts etc, you have to cut a small square piece of metal. theres a picture floating around of how to do it, ill try and find it

i dont get why people do it for the look of it. if it needs the added cooling, fair enough, if not, why?

Some people do it to try and look cool, proberbly dont even realise doing it has a perpose.

guess so. i couldnt justify it for the look of it. it would have to serve a purpose, which to be fair it would do.

i do think it looks quite good, but no point if you have say a 1.0 with a induction kit

im guessing he wanted it for the looks (12xe name) thats why i said only look good on older fords imo..

ive never had much problems with under bonnet temps to think about raising the bonnet yet. if it becomes an issue, i will give it a go for sure.

and the answer was no.. you cant buy kits... you have to make a custom bracket...

it looks like a metal rectangle with 4 holes in it... the bottom 2 bolt through the bonnet hinges and the top 2 bolt onto the bonnet... therefor when it closes..

it doesnt close fully at the top... and therefore giving you the raised bonnet effect..

the dimensions will be different depending on how much you want to raise the bonnet by...

so best of finding them out yourself.....

I done it on my old 300+bhp Pulsar using washers and it done fook all to under bonnet temps.Waste of time if u ask me.

U mean like mine i cut some plates out of ally to make mine that way i could polish them as well.
