Good point above , I can rev my bike well into the red and hit the rev limiter but I have by then passed my max bhp power for my engine, extra revs does not mean more power.

So does this mean that you cannot use an early ECU on a car which has a late ECU on? Due to the wiring of the knock sensor?

You should shift after max power, as at that point you'll still be making more power than the area your revs will drop to when you shift.

But wheres your peak power?
Your power could peak at 6600rpm with a limiter at 6800, but without a rev limiter you could rev the engine to about 8000rpm or until it destroys itself.....
Doesnt mean it needs to rev higher than the standard limit.
Its if on a RR printout your power curve is still raising hard when the limiter cuts in, then you need a higher limit.

ye but if you have an inlet on its a good idea to get it raised to get the most out of them as they work higher up the rev range

I think he has an inlet etc fitted so that will be why he wants to raise it
