I did mine on friday and to my amazement discovered I was actually owed a large sum of money due to being over-taxed in the 2007-08 tax year!
So I submitted my return and assumed that I'd have to wait about 2 months to receive the refund but to my delight have had the money paid into my bank account this morning!
This sort of thing never happens to me LOL, definately cheered me up over the weekend and also today. I can use the money to pay myself back for the IT related kit that I've purchased over the past couple of months!

You have to file a tax return if you run a business, yes.
I think you can also do so if you are just an employee?

It depends. If you pay tax through the PAYE scheme you won't need to do one unless you have more complicated tax affairs.
