Hi team,

Pulled a muscle in my back last night at football training and now cant move without shooting pains going right up and down the left hand side of my back

Getting Physio tomorrow and been using a TENS machine. Anybody else pulled a muscle in there back and would like to share some ideas about how to make it heal quicker?

Shit post I know but in desperate need of some ideas lol!

I supposedly tore a ligament at the bottom of my back a few months ago. Was agony.

Just went to physio and did the exercises they recommended and was back to normal after a couple of weeks

All I can advise really is keep stretching, it's better it heals in a stretched position that when you just lay about sulking.

Depending on what type of pull and what the doctor says, leave it 72 hours after pulling before you take ibuprofen based pain killers, as they don't allow the body to use its own anti-inflammatory mechanisms.

Also, cold is probably better than hot treatment (ice on it, rather than hot bath) because if the muscles as spasaming (sp?), heat will only inflame it but ice will bring it down.

Thanks Deano, been on the painkillers already and good shout on the cold packs, put cold gel on it last night and it worked a treat!

The Physio said my back was a "mess"

The other thing to do is sit up in your office chair, car, sofa etc. You may think it hurts, but it's doing a good job.

We used to have a Cavalier, then dad got a 520i SE. We thought the seats were really uncomfortable because they gave us back ache. It was quite the opposite. Because they were such good seats for your posture, it was making you sit correctly, which hurt.

I hurt my back a few weeks ago at work. It comes back now and then with aches then moves to shooting pains between my shoulders. Been told it's a trapped nerve and need to see a Physio ASAP
