The Viper sounds sweet with a s/s exhaust system, but no way is it louder than a BFO or even a std Pipercross/K&N. The sealed unit filters will always be quieter, but instead give a more distinct induction note.

i swopped from a k&n to a viper on my old mk4 fiesta, huge increase with the viper but the downside was it is more or less silent, only thing i culd hear was a high pitched whistle at high revs

I had a BFO fitted and used to spend ages stuck on the M25 in rush hour and the engine temp was always really high.
Now the Vipers on it takes a lot longer to get the fan to kick in.

I've got a Viper on my Corsa and my Vectra, and will have one on my VX220 soon when I can get it fitted (a ball ache on these).
On C3 it made a lot of difference to the running as the redtops are notoriously iffy with induction kits - throttle response was improved no end, it ran better and certainly felt nicer to drive.
On my Veccy, the improvement was even more noticable, again good throttle response, but you could really feel the difference in power, which I've never found with an induction kit before.
I'm looking forward to getting one on the VX as we've sold a couple for these, and both customers are very happy with them.
At the end of the day 200-250 quid isn't cheap for an induction kit, but you do get a lot more kit with the Viper. It's carbon fibre for a start, so you can imagine how much higher the manufacturing costs are! Also it does work, and I've seen numerous rolling road results on different cars, and powergains of up to 10% aren't unusual.
With the number of Viper's we've sold now in the hundreds, we've never had a disappointed customer with one. That always says a lot.

the filter will only improve over whats already there. run the car on a set of rollers without a filter and thats the most you;ll get putting a viper on will not improve that figure.
