Yup, woop woop! My college tutor put me forward as there was an apprenticeship going at one of the garages near me.
So, went in for an interview, did two days trial, and i've just been told I've got it.
Talk about throwing me in the deep end! - got there - ''see that Vectra? it's a 2.0 16v, do the cam-belt and alternator belt on it for me'' me - ''Errrr ok!''
Did that ok though, just with a bit of trouble on the alternator belt as I had to drop the engine mount just to get the belt off
so, thats a full time job (6 days a week) a full time college course and an apprentership! lol. Haven't got time to scratch my arse!!
Anywho, all in all, well chuffed! thats me finally doing something I enjoy!!

Its just a pretty un-appreciated line of work, not that well paid, dirty.
If you like cars now, this will take a bit of your passion away.
Man I'm killing the mood in here
Hope it goes well

I already have a love/hate relationship with them!
If it doesn't work out, i'll consider going to accounts.

oh and Monster; almost exactly the same thing happened to me 9 years ago when i got my apprenticeship. Local firm came down to college looking for some good lads. tutor put me forward, had a trial and got the job all in the space of a week. kind of made me feel good knowing that i was picked out of the 25ish lads on the course.
hope it works out well for ya!

Unfortunately I've got to agree. I did 2 1/2 years as an apprentice, got bored, left and went working for my dad delivering pies
I think it may have been partly down to the garage where I was working tbh. It went really quiet towards the end so I ended up spending my days doing a couple of services, the odd PDI here and there, mopping the workshop and sitting off in the brew room waiting for another job to come in
Good luck with it tho and I hope you enjoy it more than me

Fully agree, 7 years now and i wish i got a nice clean office job..the pay is poor unless your at the top of the ladder, unapreciated by every customer etc.
hope it doesnt turn out this way for you though

Sadly, i'd have to agree
Wanted to work with cars since I was a kid, finally goot to do it when I was 18 and soon realised it wasn't all that good
Best thing I did was cut my losses and leave.
Sorry for the downer

Well done m8, hope it all goes well
Is it a main dealer garage or a general local garage?
