Every year when my phone contract is up for renewal I tell them I don't want to renew and always get good discount (get 40% off now with o2 )

Anyone tried something similar with Sky? Just wanting to know if they are flexible at all with prices or packages

People do on moneysavingexpert.co.uk

I tried it for my dad who wanted to cancel. They just said okay then the account will be closed Would have been gutted if he actually wanted to keep it.

As a new customer I've just got Sky+ installed free, free box, £16.50 credit, 1st month full package for £16.50, £50 quidco, £50 M&S vouchers.

I believe they treat new customers better than existing.

A guy at work who is a normal Sky customer, phoned up yesterday and said his and his girlfriends shifts are changing so want to cancel sky as they can never watch the programs they want. Sky are installing the Sky+ box free for them and supplying it for £15.

Ah now you mentioned HD a friend of mine managed to get it fitted for nothing and doesn't pay extra a month because he took the package out where you have broadband, Sky TV and the phone line, free calls to other landlines evenings and weekends. He's only paying £37.50 a month instead of £47.50

You won't get the HD without the tenner a month.

Apart from the fact they are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with, £49 for Sky HD is extremely cheap and outweighs the £10 sub for the first few months, they can't give you it much cheaper than that.

The engineers get codes from time to time for friends and family entitling you to totally Free Sky+ for a year.

I tried using one but was 10 days too late

Family have been with Sky for years and years. Got new sky plus box, new dish (ours was a rusty mess and they said they would not replace it) for free, installed for free. Say you will cancel contract and get them to put you through to cancellations department. Most of the time they will sort you out with what you want.

Also got Sky Movies for £2 extra a month for three months, just phoned and asked.

Like with anything that you pay for a service be it tv, phone etc.. you can threaten them with cancellation and the majority of them will do their up most to keep you and some will just pass you onto cancellation dept.

If you dont phone and find out you will never know

I think they can cut your monthly payments down if you call and whine that you can't afford it.
