Going tomorrow to look at a 55 plate vectra SRi 2.0T with 30K miles on the clock.

What should I be looking out for, any common faults etc...

Not a very god engine to be honest. There chain driven so watch out for a rattley chain etc.. ECU light is common when egr valves are away, just the usual tbh..

30k on a 55 plate. Check for clunky gearbox, exhaust is not loose or rusted, fluids and tyres. Also check for car park dings and patchy body work.

Service history is nice to have too.

Do not buy it. Get a 150bhp cdti Elite. By far the best of all. If you know anyone with a tech2 take that and check what problems it has/had.

You will be gutted in your sri when you have to start paying out for the luxuries that come standard on the elite.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Or if you do seriously consider the 1.9CDTI (150) go for the same engine in the Astra, less weight, lower insurance group, lower emissions so possibly lower tax (149 vs 154), fast to 60 (if thats your thing) both have 6 speed boxes, Astra may cost more however.....
