Flying over to boston in August so looking for flights.

Nearest airport is manchester but flights from there are alot higher than heathrow so i was going to fly from manc to heathrow then on to boston and do the same on the way back.

Just after advice on the internal flights really,
1) how long would i need to be at heathrow before the flight to america? is it 2 or 3 hours?
2) What happens if the flight to heathrow is delayed outbound and i missthe flight onto america? (and visa versa)

anyone ever done anything like this?
Ill probably be nipping into a travel agents to ask them about it and look for prices as so far i have only been on expedia.

My sister did it.. she went from blackpool to heathrow to spain...

Her blackpool flight was delayed.. she had 30 minutes to get her luggage off the blackpool flight to the spain flight..

Can be done, wouldnt travel insurance cover the possibility of missing the flights?

150miles ish one way x 4 = 600miles.

I can get 600 miles on a £55ish tank?
(Thats a 2.0 HDi though!)

just checked and some flights are £200 cheaper from manchester BUT they arent direct and the travel times are double what they are from heathrow which would be a pain in the arse cause i dont want it to take 16-24hours to get there .

train?

Failing that, do you collect airmiles? Take out a Lloyds Duo credit card, spend 10 quid on it and get 1500 airmiles, thats 2 return flights to heathrow free, book a night in hotel at heathrow with airmiles to qualify for the free flights. Your there a day early, no worry over late arrivals and it wont cost that much.

I'm sure if you are catching a connecting flight and you contact the airlines advising that this is the case they will transfer your bags to the next plane for you. Meaning they are aware of the connection and you don't have to wait ti collect luggage at airports.

So if you are at little late you can run without the hasske of bags to check in etc

well.. it wont be a connection as such it would be 2 seperate flights if that makes sense.
