i got some software for the iphone called dynolicious, im sure some have heard about it..
it basically gives G reading for accel, brake and lateral and records 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.
you start by putting in the weight of the car, driver fuel everything..
so i put in 900kg inc me, but i think that might be abit high, and i put it at 18% loss through transmission
then i went on a run
0-10 - 0.97
0-20 - 1.87
0-30 - 2.96
0-40 - 3.84
0-50 - 5.04
0-60 - 6.63
0-70 - 8.44
max accel - 0.62G
peak hp - 135hp
i didnt rag the car to death i just did a fairly quick try
there are reviews on this software and they basically show that it can varey between 0.24 - 0.65 they did a test here
http://www.motivemag.com/pub/news/Tested_0-60_MPH_Times_Dynolicious_iPhone_Application_Versus_VBox.shtml
and they got almost the same really.
so in a real world situation, not magazine figures i recon about 6 to 60, which i dont think is that bad when they quoted 5.5 in the book and thats starting in 2nd gear for the tests.

no i didnt rag it , but i did try get a decent start, problem is atm the limiter kicks in at about 57/58 mph and you have to change to 3rd, once its remapped i should beable to pull 65 ish in 2nd which will speed it up by about 1/2 a second.

Good times them! Read that some of the iphone acceleration apps are pretty accurate! Ive just bought a driftbox for the same reason to try and get some accurate times.
If anyone in the Manchester area ever wants to borrow it for a day they are more than welcome btw!!

I think if you can record the speedo then view it on the comp i think you are right, but this software is pretty consistant so you can do mods and see what difference it makes if any, also with the splits 0-10, 0-20 etc you can see where your car is quicker. It gives you graphs and g forces.

i was thinking about trying to get the 30-70 time as im sure that would be more accurate than these results.. I think that i have done this right,
8.44 - 2.96 = 5.48
I got some figures from other cars to compare with:
Monaro VXR = 4.2
E46 m3 = 4.3
E36 m3 = 4.7
Honda S2000 = 5.2
Astra VXR = 5.7
Golf vr6 = 6.4
Focus ST = 6.8
Saxo VTS = 7.2
Corsa VXR = 7.2
106 GTi = 8.5

I went out yesterday to do some more testing, but i had the missis with me so i think the 30-70 suffered.
Anyway i managed to get a 0-60 of 6.22 so minus the 0.65 gives a potential 5.57 which is bang on standard, again ididnt start in 2nd i went from 1 st, a respectable result i think to say there was over 130 kg of persons in the car.
