been busy today!
fitted some more blue vacuum hosing
removed all the aircon (apart from the condensor as i need a new engine mount by the looks of it ) but still got rid of 20kg
this is a bitch to get out lol
also got rid off the one way SAI valve off my manifold by makiing a small blanking plate from Aluminium.
then put my battery in the boot (on standard batt tray for now) and ran all the cables,
looks much neater in the bay now, but still along way to go, these smallblock XE's have alot of crap attached to them!

basically, just ran 0awg from engine bay to boot, coming in through the grommet under the header tank and under the carpet,
and earhted a run og 0awg to the boot. then had a live and a ground dizzy block in the engine bay, with all the wires going to it.
i can get you some pics if that isn't clear enough

i took my aircon out and got a damp problem, water started coming in from the intake under the scuttle panel, i must of disturbed it when removing the pipes etc.
took me a while to relise what id done, my windows were steaming up every time i went out. it wasnt untill my carpet and foam got soaked i knew sumit was wrong lol
im now on the look out for a decent welder to cover the hole for good

Two points for you to consider; don't cable tie that earth lead to your positive terminal, when the shit insulation on that amp cable wears through your battery will explode.
Also, ensure you have a grommet where the live goes through the bulkhead. And also make sure the battery lead is clipped at least every 300mm and isn't next to any fuel or brake lines.
If you want to lose a few more kgs and also improve safety, then get rid of the wet cell battery from inside the car as sulfuric acid can leak and the fumes from batteries also kill. Instead get a sealed dry battery like they have in rally cars.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

It is grommeted but not secured. Is that an MOT requirment or just for safety. And I'll move that ground cable asap!
What sort of £ am I looking at for a dry cell batt?
And in response to the damp prob above I've used sticky back plastic to cover all holes to stop that!

Safety mainly.
Dry cell start at about £80
