You may struggle to find the menu dat files to make it all work as Nintendo are shutting down any sites that host them......I might know somebody that has them though

Can someone explain these r4 cards to me please?
My gf was going on about how she used to love Mario and Donkey Kong when she was little. Would score mucho brownie points if I gave her a DS with all that kind of stuff on it!

R4 cards are basically a cartridge case that is modified to accept a SD card. You install or it comes preinstalled with firmware that allows you to download DS games, install on the SD card and play on your DS. I have 2000+ games.

My initial question was what were the cards called?
Your question wanted an explanation of how they worked etc which would involve talking about downloading copyrighted material. I'm sure Ian wouldn't mind that sort of discussion staying off the site.
Just type R4 DS Card into youtube and there are loads of videos showing you exactly what to do.
